Welcome to my Blog!
Hello, and welcome to my blog!! My name is Hannah Roque, and I am from Middlebury, Vermont. I am a sophomore at Saint Mike's and I am double majoring in English and secondary education with a minor in chemistry (it's a mouthful I know)!
My mom is currently a teacher, and in many ways it is because of her that I am studying to become one myself! I am hoping to become a middle school science teacher and spread my love of science to middle school students! When I was in middle school I was convinced that I was not a science person, and that I would never pursue a career in the sciences. Eight science courses and one (almost complete!) chemistry minor later, I have discovered my love for chemistry and I can honestly say I would not be here without the influence and passion from my high school and college science professors. It is because of them that I want to inspire the next generation of scientists!
When I am not gushing about my love for science, I love to sing, dance, and act! I have been in over 10 musicals in my lifetime, and I love the process of creating a character from the text provided. Because of my diverse interests spanning theatre, science, and literature, I am a huge believer in incorporating the arts into STEM education. Over the summer I created the curriculum for the STEAM Girls summer camp for young girls that are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math! Once I get my degree in education, it is my hope to continue promoting the importance of incorporating the arts into STEM education!
In my free time, I love to play with my cats, see all types of stage productions, and read many different types of books and plays! Below I have included a a photo of me outside the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child theater in NYC which both combine two things I love: theatre and literature!
With this blog I am excited to document my learning experiences during the semester, and create a portfolio showing my progress throughout my journey of becoming a future educator!!
